Designing Change
If you've ever had the pleasure to meet Magalie René-Hayes, you'd learn right away that she's an amazing soul with an infectious laugh and energy that quickly draws you right in. Magalie is an accomplished entrepreneur managing an Interior Design business that creates beautiful spaces for a better world.
As an Interior Designer she helps individuals and families design a balanced home and life via Magalie René-Hayes and support schools and educators in creating spaces for smarter, healthier, happier students via Kid-Smart Spaces.
Today we got a sneak peak into Magalie's beautifully designed home, her catalyst for inspiration, where we were instantly intrigued by each warmly curated corner...
3 ways your space inspires you...
Beauty:
I've used white linen sheers to highlight the spaces that are - luckily -streaming with bright sunlight and filled my home with plants and pieces I've lovingly curated!
Joy:
Color and comfort are paramount. Color is a great balancer of moods and emotions and as interiors go, feeling good and looking good are for me one and the same. No uncomfortable pieces just for the sake of beauty - I am not about that life! LOL.
Purpose:
Elements that ground and guide me are tucked into every corner of my home. A wall of quotes above my desk, books like "Making Ideas Happen" & "The Prophet" on the nightstand and coffee table... I also keep a vision binder (my preference to a board) and my Savor The Success' Manifest Method binder at my fingertips. I'm always plotting, planning, daydreaming and manifesting!
More about Magalie...
Author of the book, Less Distraction + More Inspiration - A Teachers Guide to Inspired Classroom Design (forthcoming, 2017) which is backed through the Kid-Smart Spaces crowdfunding campaign (PS: It's not too late to donate!)
"Executed the "CREATE FOR KIDS" Project, a Los Angeles-based inner-city arts and beautification event for underserved youth, alongside a fantastic team of leaders."
2 Items you can't live without...
I live for essential oils - they're instant spirit-lifters.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. It's the book that truly jump-started my personal growth journey and its dog-eared to death from regular reference.
What gets you up in the morning?
The idea that environment and interiors can profoundly – and scientifically - affect our quality of life inspires me. We can design spaces that not only improve lives, but also impact education and create a more mindful world around us. Infusing that narrative into the work I do is a true calling.
I’m also passionate about connection. I love conversations that tap into deeper motivations and desires - small talk is for the birds! When we truly connect we learn, teach, share, and find meaning in each other's stories and in our own lives.
Those are the things that get me up in the morning. And playing with my puppy, Prince, of course! He's my mini-me in animal form.
