Soho Beach House

Soho Beach House

Last Spring, my husband and I had the pleasure of attending a wedding in one of my favorite cities, Miami, Florida. The wedding was a small, intimate affair filled with close friends & family - and it was beautiful! It was hosted in an old Spanish Villa with authentic design elements, and so much character.

Everything about being in Miami was special: the abundance of love, friendship, good food and of course, great music. However, being both obsessed and inspired by beautifully designed interior spaces, the highlight for me was our stay at the Soho Beach House.

The Soho Beach House is nestled on the Collins Avenue strip of Miami Beach. As we stepped into our huge guest room, that felt more like a room in a home rather than a hotel, we were instantly transposed to the historic Art Deco era. The luxe design was influenced by both Cuban and South American style. The room was furnished with a mix of luxe traditional pieces with some modern touches sprinkled here and there.

The Soho Group designers did a phenomenal job of showcasing lots of texture by mixing natural elements, rich jewel tones, and earthy, tonal colors. The exposed cement ceilings, finished with matte paint, complimented the room by providing a rustic feel. The look was completed with an antique hanging chandelier.

The earthy tones and geometric style of the tiles along the accent walls and floors gave a sense of comfort. While the pops of jewel tone colors in the decor helped to stay true to the authenticity of the space.

The design of the luxe bath area was an extension of the bedroom, where the tiled walls and floors continued throughout the space. I fell in love with the standing shower, sink area, and deep tub with an antique tooled faucet. Recess lights provided a clean, crisp look. Lamps were placed in corners for a more dimming, cozy vibe. While mirrors, and lots of them, did their job to open up an already large inviting space.

The standing shower, built with a luxurious large shower head was another highlight, as were the collection of great smelling "Cowashed" shower gels, shampoo & conditioners.

I'm a total home body so if I had to choose, I would've opted to stay in this dream home away from home for the entire trip - but, that wasn't happening because there was so much to do!

So I got ready...

Then not too soon into the night, I took my shoes off, because the way my feet are set up...lol

And I also captured this moment...

After dancing into the wee hours of the morning at the reception and afterparty...we slept in.

The balance of the weekend was spent sunbathing on the beach, dancing as Questlove paid homage to the legendary, Prince, on the Soho Beach House rooftop. We visited a close friend who took us on a tour of Little Haiti where we ate delicious authentic Haitian food; and then walked through the Wynwood art district.

Take me back...
